The Christmas season is in full swing, but flu season is also reaching its peak. You must be well prepared and know what the common flu symptoms are, especially if you are taking care of someone with compromised health or who is in their senior years. If they get sick now, it could have severe results on their well-being, or at least make the holiday less fun.

How to Tell?

As you may know, one of the very first flu symptoms is feeling fatigued – whether it’s tired, ache-y, or just a mild sense of being under the weather. After this, you may contract a sore throat, a dry cough, red and watery eyes, a headache, fever, a runny nose which may cause sneezing, and especially sensitivity to your skin.

These symptoms can escalate one into the next, or you may experience just a handful of them. However, before you allow their effects to become obvious, be sure to evaluate how strong you feel each day. If you were ready to run a marathon yesterday and now you have a serious need to sit down, you could be catching a sickness. At this point, be sure to drink plenty of fluids, don’t over exert yourself, and consume as much vitamin C as possible.

Children Flu Symptoms

Apart from all these adult symptoms, children may have additional signs of flu. They can feel a pain in their belly (or even chest) and a shortness of breath, which adults usually don’t experience. Diarrhea and vomiting will happen faster, as children may not be able to notice the early symptoms until they snowball, as well as the fact that a child’s body will try to purge the illness faster, recognizing that their immune system is lower than it will be as they age. Confusion and dizziness can be also some of the symptoms. In order to get healthy as soon as possible, learn what to do when you have the flu.

When Is Flu Season?

Initial flu symptoms usually appear in the fall, then will continue until spring. You can tell it’s ‘that time of year again’ when more kids stop going to school due to flu-like symptoms. Then the flu gets to their parents and begins spreading further. The pattern is quite predictable.
